Restore Projects Calendar — 2013! Shortly after Sandy hit the East Coast there was a lot of uncertainty and little to look forward to in the new year. Lucky their have been a number of community lead organizations to step up and facilitate relief effects. We were able to partner up with our favorite three, My Brothers and I, Waves For Water and Restore Projects to create a calendar you can be proud to keep long after your goals have been met for the year. Each calendar includes 12 double sided loose posters that measure 24" x 36", printed on 100% post consumer stock folded and delivered in a rigid cover. All proceeds to be donated towards Sandy Relief through Waves For Water. Purchase at Ergo.

Tumble with Us. Since 2009, we have been collecting work from our contributors, filing away influences, references, stories, loves, failures and lost ones to one day find again. Each month we'll try to find a new place for our cherished old beauties, from the artists, photographers, designers who have continued to support our mission and bring to life each new project. When you're bored, lost or hungry dive into our archive to feel refreshed and new. It will all be collected here in our thread of infinite scrolls.

RRRIDE ON! | 11.14.12
.................................................................................................................................................................................
Sandy Relief + Our Third Book. It seems that we have terrible timing for releasing books, its possible that maybe this last one is slightly cursed. Designed in the aftermath of the earthquake in Japan, we asked our contributors to remember the better times of their past, in hopes that we could reconstruct the present and rejoice in what we may experience tomorrow. It took us well over a year to consider the work and final presentation of the book and now that its ready to be shared, we feel like it only makes sense to give back to the communities that made us who we are today. Until, 2013 we will be donating all the proceeds from RRR.003 to help with the rebuilding of NY & NJ coastal communities. In addition, we'll continue to volunteer for Waves for Water and extend our hand toward fundraising events in the future. For more info about W4W, check out their site here.

The Portrait Machine Project. Since 2009, Carlo has been an amazing contributor and friend of the RRR Project, so now lets show some support for his amazing project, The Portrait Machine Project. Here's what he has to say about the project, "This project started when I was making polaroid portraits here in NY. I was interested in the idea that a camera could offer an insight into the subject’s character or my relationship with them, especially if its a portrait of someone you know. The relationship between the camera, photographer, subject and viewer was something I wanted to explore." The photos are amazing, can't wait to see it wrapped up in a book form.

.................................................................................................................................................................................
Free Downloadable Ezine!!! RRR.003 comes to us, perhaps for the last time, on Earth Day 2011 – we honor our Mother Earth by joining together as a community of makers to reflect on all that she gives us, the good and the bad – the experience of being apart of something bigger than ourselves. On this third strike, we acknowledge that it’s not too late to rescue ourselves from the seemingly endless spate of wreckage and start tomorrow to rebuild, or even better, start today. Please enjoy the pdf (below), pass it on to your friends and family. It is free to view and download, but we encourage you to make a donation to the Japanese Red Cross Society after viewing the pdf. Thank you, enjoy.

Not sure he would tell you where it is but sure enough its good and better than where you live (I don't think he would say that though). His photos might help you visit, but only for a few moments. To help everyone break past the boredom of the everyday, he's nice enough to share what he sees. Check out his blog, Quality People and maybe you'll learn something new.

Very Soon, in the next couple of weeks our second publication, STRRRIKE Two, will arrive smelling of soy ink and bursting with color. We hope you'll enjoy flipping thru the tactile pages to see what our group has made in between our busy schedules and hectic lives. This time around, we were excited about having the opportunity to extend a hand to a number of newer artists, some we knew and others we cant wait to meet. The work, seems to fit together really well and presents a collaborative voice that at times seems concerned yet strangely optimistic about the world. We'll see... Special thanks to our family and friends at Simple Shoes for helping us bring this issue to life. Check back in, we'll have more info soon. thanks

They've recently started an online gallery with the hopes that you'll contribute your best, brightest, or most profound statements on the environmental disaster. My submission has been haunting me for the past few days & I finally let the pour bastard out into the wild. If you've ever stepped on a tar ball (I have & it sucks!!!) try to imagine what it would be like to be covered head to toe. Even if your slammed with work or not sure how to help, check out the gallery and contribute.

A year ago our friends Julie Goldstein & Mark Tesi had a horrible fire destroy their surfshop called Pine. I was given the OK to go inside and check out what used to be a really eclectic shop filled with old and new surfboards, skateboards and decorated with artwork from friends and local artists. The place seemed like it would have been a monthly destination for me if I still lived in NY or was lucky enough to hear about it before the fire. Above is a photo by local photographer and friend Chris Pfeil that was one of few pieces in Pine that was spared by the fire.

Second stop, off to BURRRLINGTON (pretty soon I will get bored of repeating R's). One of the key parts to getting RRR going was Jonathan Sandridge, not only did he help me contact and recruit people for submissions but he also helped lay the zine out and posted the pdf. A trip up to see him and his group of friends in Vermont was definitely in order. Under the name Church, the four of us sat in their studio after dinner to make collages and talk. The pieces are honest, funny and telling of the time. More great things to come from them, I'm sure. Church is Jonathan Sandridge, Chris Partelow, & Deke Smith.

The project began when we sent out a free downloadable ezine to our friends and family for Earth Day With art submitted by a great group of friends we sent out emails containing a link to the ezine. Artists were given a little less than two weeks to find or make work that concentrated on environmental issues. The designers were given a little less than a day each for layout. We believe in less talk more action.
